چکیده

When images captured by a tilted camera are mosaiced into a panorama, the resulting mosaic is curled. This happens, for example, with a panning camera that is not perfectly horizontal, and with a translating camera facing a tilted planar surface. The tilt of the camera causes differences in image velocity between the top and bottom parts of the image, causing the curled mosaic. In rectified mosaicing these distortions are overcome by warping the strips into rectangles, while keeping some image feature invariant. This warping equalizes the image motion at the different image parts, and the resulting mosaic is straight. Mosaicing is done without camera calibration or knowledge of the scene, and the process adapts automatically to smooth changes in the scene and the imaging conditions. Figure 1. A curled mosaic constructed by Manifold Mosaicing. The panning camera was slightly tilted upwards. scribed in Section 2.

Error Characteristics of Parallel-Perspective Stereo Mosaics

This paper analyzes different aspects of the error characteristics of parallel-perspective stereo mosaics generated from an airborne video camera moving through a complex three-dimensional scene. First, we show that theoretically a stereo pair of parallelperspective mosaics is a good representation for an extended scene, and the adaptive baseline inherent to the geometry permits depth accuracy ...

Robust SIFT-Based Hierarchical Video Mosaicing for Endomicroscopy

We present a method to perform video mosaicing for endomicroscopy with two major improvements compared to the state of the art. First, instead of using individual images directly, we start by creating sub-mosaics from short video sub-sequences using iconic registration. The sub-mosaics are then considered for feature-based registration. Second, groupwise estimation is performed between all subm...

Least Distorted Mosaics

Manifold mosaicing is a fast and robust way to summarize video sequences captured by a translating camera. It is also useful for rendering compelling 3D visualizations from a video without estimating the 3D structure of the scene. However, since the result mosaics are not perspective images, their geometry is inherently distorted. These mosaics are commonly referred to as multi-perspective imag...

High-resolution video mosaicing

The generation of high-resolution mosaics from multiple images is presented. The estimation of the high-resolution signal utilizes a motion-compensated filtering approach for video frames that are affected by spatial aliasing. For that, global motion models and the corresponding estimation algorithms are employed to provide a very accurate and continuous description of sub-pixel motion for the ...

MoSievius: Interactive Audio Mosaicing

This thesis investigates how audio analysis techniques and representations can be used to automate the sequencing of arbitrary sounds in order to provide a higher level and more expressive control over the creation of sample based music. This pursuit required the creation of a mosaicing algorithm prototyping language, which expedites the process of creating and testing different ways to interac...
